We collect used donated eyeglasses:
Each year the Texas Lions Recycling Center supplies 60 - 80 misions sponsored by church groups, physicians and other organizations with used refurbished eyeglasses. Free Glasses for LTISD Needy Students: Glasses are provided to children in the Lake Travis ISD through school nurse referrals Early Childhood Vision Screening: Our club sponsors free childhood vision screening events using a new technology for children ages 6 months through 4 years, for serious vision problems, some of which may be repairable if caught early. Lone Star Lions Eye Bank: Collects and processes donor corneas for transplantation to the visually impaired. Leo Club Lake Travis High School: Helps students gain leadership skills by performing service to our community. Texas Lions Camp: A free camp for physically disabled and diabetic children, located on a 500+ acre site in Kerrville, TX. Mobile Health Screening Unit: Free screenings for hearing, vision, blood pressure, and blood glucose. Lions Foundations: Provides emergency funds for local, state, and international disaster relief efforts. Leader Dogs for the Blind: Donates and trains "seeing eye" dogs for the visually impaired. Don't miss our annual Charity Dog Walk in October! Heart Defibrillators: Our club has purchased 20 AEDs for public facilities, first responder vehicles and all LTISD schools. Lake Travis Community Library: Helps support our new library with fund-raising events. |
