PRESS RELEASE
Calling all couch potatoes in the Lake Travis area!! Do some good for yourself and some needy children in the Lake Travis ISD at the same time.
Get your summer started right by showing up on Tuesday evenings at Lakeway City Park to enjoy a run or walk around the Loop. Grab your whole family and your neighbors and make it a group event to get out and exercise each Tuesday in June. Not only will it be good for you all but it will also be lots of fun. And, there is an award for the Top 10 Finishers each Tuesday.
The entry fee is very small, $5 for adults and $1 for children, but the money will go toward the purchase of eyeglasses for needy children in the Lake Travis ISD. In 2003, the Lake Travis Lions Club spent only $1500 for eyeglasses for needy students. But, the need for Free Eye Exams and Eyeglasses in LTISD has increased greatly. In 2007, that amount has almost tripled, to over $4000, due to the growth of the school district. So, not only will you be helping yourselves by initiating a fun exercise program for your whole family, but you will also be helping some needy kids.
Registration starts at 5:30pm and the race starts at 6:00pm. By the way, while you are there, you can bring along any old eyeglasses you would like to recycle. So, jump into some shorts and a t-shirt and come on down Hurst Creek Drive in Lakeway to City Park. For more information, please contact Scott Tracy at 263-7091.
